Fazale "Fuz" Rana
Biochemist Fazale “Fuz” Rana, president, CEO, and senior scholar at Reasons to Believe (RTB), formerly served as a senior scientist in research and development at Procter & Gamble. Rana earned a BS in chemistry with highest honors from West Virginia State College (now University) and a PhD in chemistry with an emphasis in biochemistry from Ohio University. He pursued postdoctoral studies on cell membranes at the Universities of Virginia and Georgia.
Several articles by Rana have been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, including Biochemistry, Applied Spectroscopy, FEBS Letters, Journal of Microbiological Methods, Origins of Life and Evolution of Biospheres, and Journal of Chemical Education. He also authored a chapter on molecular convergence and intentional design for the book The Nature of Nature, and cowrote a chapter on antimicrobial peptides for Biological and Synthetic Membranes. In addition, he has delivered numerous presentations at international scientific meetings and holds two patents.
Rana converted to Christianity during graduate school. Though he initially subscribed to the evolutionary paradigm, Rana eventually concluded that the elegance of biochemical systems can most reasonably be explained by a Creator’s involvement.
In 1999, Rana joined the RTB team, and today he addresses science-and-faith hot topics through books—including Humans 2.0, Fit for a Purpose, and Dinosaur Blood and the Age of the Earth—blogs, articles, videos, television and radio interviews, and a popular weekly video podcast, Stars, Cells, and God. He has addressed audiences at over 800 universities, churches, and conferences around the world. He was also featured in Museum of the Bible’s Scripture and Science exhibit in Washington, DC.
Rana lives in Southern California with his wife, Amy. They have five grown children.
