Richard “Rick” Hess is professor of Old Testament and Semitic languages at Denver Seminary in Colorado. He has authored numerous books and commentaries, serves on the NIV Committee on Bible Translation, and studies ancient Near Eastern texts. An ordained minister, he also copastors Denver 316, a Celtic Christian church.

President, CEO, and senior scholar at Reasons to Believe (RTB), he formerly served as a senior scientist in research and development at Procter & Gamble. Rana earned a BS in chemistry with highest honors from West Virginia State College (now University) and a PhD in chemistry with an emphasis in biochemistry from Ohio University.
