Katie Galloway is assistant professor of chemical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She received her PhD in chemical engineering with a minor in biology from the California Institute of Technology in 2012. She was then one of only three graduate students awarded the Caltech Everhart Lecture and, in 2013, her work was published in Science. As an NIH NRSA postdoctoral fellow at the University of Southern California, she worked on converting skin cells into neurons to study neurodegenerative diseases.
