He holds a PhD in quantum-nuclear physics from Jiwaji University and a ThD in Christian apologetics from International Theological Seminary. He started the creationism and apologetics movement in India, has trained thousands of people in 170 countries, and has published numerous theological textbooks.

Rana earned a BS in chemistry with highest honors from West Virginia State College (now University) and a PhD in chemistry with an emphasis in biochemistry from Ohio University.
