Astronomy
David Block earned his PhD in astronomy from the University of Cape Town and is professor emeritus at the University of the Witwatersrand. Elected a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society at 19, he has published over 100 papers and conducted research at Caltech, Harvard, ANU, and ESO. His work has twice appeared on the cover of Nature. He speaks globally on science and faith, inspiring audiences to “look up—and never give up.” He received South Africa’s NSTF Award for science communication. He lives in Johannesburg, South Africa.

President, CEO, and senior scholar at Reasons to Believe (RTB), he formerly served as a senior scientist in research and development at Procter & Gamble. Rana earned a BS in chemistry with highest honors from West Virginia State College (now University) and a PhD in chemistry with an emphasis in biochemistry from Ohio University.
