Russ Carlson is an emeritus professor at the University of Georgia (UGA). He received his PhD in biochemistry from the University of Colorado in 1976. Beginning in 1988, he served as executive technical director of the Department of Energy-funded Center for Plant and Microbial Complex Carbohydrates at UGA’s Complex Carbohydrate Research Center, a position he held until retirement.
