Fred Wieland is the chief research scientist at Mosaic ATM. He earned a BS in astronomy from Caltech, an MS in information science from the Claremont Graduate School, and a PhD in information technology (IT) from George Mason University. Fred published two papers in astronomy from his research at Caltech, and has published almost 100 papers in the field of IT. His current research focuses on air traffic control, specifically the integration of unmanned aerial systems into the National Airspace System.
