  • Oxygen Problem for Naturalistic Origin-of-Life Models

    March 13, 2017

Nearly every high school student has been taught the results of the Miller-Urey experiment ... Today we know that Miller’s flask experiment is irrelevant to the origin of life ...

  • Does Quantum Gravity Avoid the Need for a Cosmic Creator?

    March 7, 2017

Many people use quantum gravity as a loophole for avoiding the conclusion that a Creator must have intervened from beyond space and time to create the universe ... A recent breakthrough shows the possibility of observational testing in this area.

  • Rapid Recovery from the Permian-Triassic Mass Extinction Event

    February 28, 2017

The Permian-Triassic mass extinction event is by far the most catastrophic known event to ever impact life on Earth. It occurred 251.9 million years ago. This cataclysm eradicated 90–96% of marine species and at least 70% of land species.1 It even wiped out insect species.2 Not even cockroaches survived the catastrophe.

  • Earth’s Seven Sisters: Are They Really Similar?

    February 24, 2017

NASA just announced the discovery of the largest ever batch of Earth-size, habitable-zone planets around a single star, 39 light-years away ... Just how Earth-sized and habitable are these planets? Details about the features of the seven planets and their host star were published on February 22 in the British science journal Nature. The host star for the seven planets is far from Sun-like. In fact, it is about as far from being Sun-like as one can get ...

    February 20, 2017

... the remaining doubters of the big bang creation model are atheists and young-earth creationists. Atheists reject the big bang creation model because of its theistic implications and because it makes the universe too young. Young-earth creationists reject it because of what it implies about God (that God spread his creation miracles over long time periods and tolerated thermodynamics, carnivorous activity, and disease before the fall of Adam) and because it makes the universe too old.

The predominant cosmic creation model is a hot big bang creation model known as the ΛCDM model. The hot big bang refers to the universe being infinitely or near infinitely hot at its beginning and therefore cooling as it expands. The ΛCDM refers to the primary components of the universe.

I often use my blog to alert readers to scientific discoveries that provide more evidence to the Bible’s accuracy concerning nature and science. Occasionally, there are scientific discoveries that could potentially affirm that the Bible may also be on target when it predicts future events in human history. Two such examples appeared in the scientific literature this past week.

    January 23, 2017

In case you haven’t noticed, we are living in an interglacial period. For the last 2.59 million years of Earth’s history and only for the last 2.59 million years of Earth’s history, Earth has experienced an ice age cycle. During Earth’s ice age cycle, our planet oscillates between about 10 percent of its surface under heavy ice cover to about 20 percent being covered with ice.

Probably nothing is taken more for granted than the air we breathe. At sea level our atmosphere has an air pressure of 15 pounds per square inch. It contains 21% oxygen by volume. This air pressure and this amount of oxygen is optimal for humans and for human civilization.

For over two centuries liberal skeptics of an inerrant Bible have challenged the Bible’s historical accounts. Archaeological digs in Israel over the past hundred years, however, have been silencing these critics, artifact discovery by artifact discovery ...

  • Why Do Atheist Scientists Care about God’s Nonexistence?

    January 11, 2017

After a speaking event, believers often come up to ask me some variation of the following questions: Why do atheist scientists devote so much energy to refuting the existence of God? If they really believe there is no evidence or rational basis for belief in God, then why waste the time and effort refuting his existence?

  • Fast Radio Bursts Update

    January 9, 2017

On December 29, 2016, I posted a blog article where I dispelled the widespread web speculations that fast radio bursts were signals being sent out by intelligent aliens. This web buzz arose from a paper published by a team of astronomers in which they announced the discovery of six additional fast radio bursts from the only known repeating fast radio burst (FRB) source, FRB 121102.

    January 3, 2017

In case your list of things to worry about is a little short and you need something to raise your anxiety levels, two astronomers have now come to your rescue. Filip Berski and Piotr Dybczyński at Mickiewicz University in Poland, using the latest data from the Gaia satellite, have recalculated the motion parameters of the star Gliese 710. Their recalculation shows that Gliese 710 is heading toward our solar system with dire consequences to follow.

For life to be possible on a planet, the planet must simultaneously reside in all the known habitable zones. So far, astronomers have identified nine distinct habitable zones. I described eight of these zones in my book Improbable Planet.1 The ninth, the electric field habitable zone, was discovered just several months ago.

One of the things I especially like about the Christmas season are Christmas carols, Christmas cantatas, and Christmas oratorios. The lyrics are loaded with doctrinal teachings that by themselves compel worship of our God who chose to become a man in order that we might be saved from sin and death.
