P. Randall Schunk

Randall (Randy) Schunk received his PhD in chemical engineering and materials science from the University of Minnesota in 1989. In 2009, Schunk was appointed a national laboratory professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of New Mexico, where he remains active. He also recently retired from Sandia National Laboratories. His research focuses on the manufacturing science underpinning films and coatings, additive manufacturing, and nanomanufacturing. Schunk’s work on material microstructure led him to conclude that the laws of nature used to tailor materials performance can only come from an intelligent designer and are a gift to scientists that reveal God’s mysteries.
