Oscar Gonzalez

Oscar Gonzalez is a biologist who was born and raised in Peru. He earned a PhD in interdisciplinary ecology from the University of Florida, an MS in zoology from Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, Peru, an MS in tropical biodiversity management from Universidad San Pablo CEU, Spain, and a BS in biology from Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina, Peru. Oscar studies ornithology, plant-animal interactions, and conservation. He is the environmental science coordinator and associate professor of biology at Anderson University, South Carolina.

When Oscar teaches or interacts with colleagues about nature, he brings Scripture to the discussion. He is passionate about conserving God’s creation and showing how science can be used as a tool from the Lord.

Oscar divides his time between the United States and Peru. He likes to ride his bike everywhere and loves birdwatching with his wife, Marlene.
