Biography

Kenny Rhodes is an ordained Southern Baptist pastor with over 25 years in pastoral ministry. Kenny first started evangelizing on the streets of Manteca and Stockton, California, in the early 90s. It was in response to the questions that people asked concerning the reliability of the Bible, the existence of God, and science that motivated his journey to “be prepared to give a defense” of the Christian faith. As a result, Kenny spent the next 16 years in college, seminary, and pastoral ministry.

Kenny holds a PhD in theology and an MDiv, and specializes in the doctrine and existence of God, textual criticism, and the metaphysics of Thomas Aquinas. He also has an unceasing interest in cosmology and astronomy, which explains why he has followed the ministry of Reasons to Believe and Hugh Ross since 1990. Kenny is the author of the theological and apologetic handbook The One Who Is: The Doctrine and Existence of God, which Dr. Norm Geisler called “the best handbook” he has seen on the topic. Kenny is also the coeditor and coauthor of the systematic theological tome entitled, Evangelical Bible Doctrine.

Kenny is an accomplished jazz and fusion drummer and he teaches music on the side to young students. He integrates playing instrumental music (with a drum solo) and apologetics/ evangelism. He also plays guitar and bass and actually turned away from what would have been a promising musical career for ministry. Kenny has been married to Tami since 1994 and they have three wonderful adult children, Tajiana, Micaela, and Kent. Kenny and his family reside in Modesto, CA.
