Joseph R. Miller

Dr. J. R. Miller earned a BS in architectural engineering from Pennsylvania State University, an MDiv from Oral Roberts University, an MASR from Southern California Seminary, a DMin from Biola University, and a ThM and PhD in ethics from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has taught in higher education for more than a decade and has worked in pastoral ministry for over 20 years. He has authored multiple books on leadership, church history, and biblical theology.

Biography

Joe R. Miller began his academic career at Pennsylvania State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering. Since then he has earned five additional degrees, including an MDiv from Oral Roberts University, an MASR (master of arts in science and religion) from Southern California Seminary, and a DMin from Biola University. He completed his ThM and PhD in ethics from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. For more than a decade, Dr. Miller has taught a variety of courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral level covering a variety of topics, including the integration of science and faith. He has authored multiple books on leadership, church history, and biblical theology, including his latest work, Elders Lead a Healthy Family: Shared Leadership for a Vibrant Church.

Outside of academics, Miller has over twenty years of experience in pastoral ministry. He currently disciples college students through the ministry Ratio Christi. He also helps Christians apply the truth and love of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the most challenging social issues of our day through his nonprofit called the Center for Cultural Apologetics. Joe and his wife Suzanne live in San Diego, CA, with their three sons.
