Erick Thompson graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in June 1982 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He immediately landed his dream job of equine practice, serving horse owners in the northwestern Minneapolis area.
Dr. Thompson went from barns to buildings seven years later to join 3M in St. Paul, MN, where he headed the professional services unit of 3M’s Animal Care products. During his time in Animal Care, he was awarded 3M’s Circle of Technical Excellence Award that recognizes major business-building technical achievement. Later he accepted 3M’s first Knowledge Transfer position to launch an enterprise-wide Knowledge Management (KM) initiative.
Thompson went on to lead KM initiatives in two other large multinational organizations leading up to his present position on the executive team of The Learning Forum Executive Council Network. This group is a global networking organization for senior executives of large multinational and government organizations. He chairs the two councils in the executive network focused on the discipline of knowledge management.
Erick teaches Sunday School to a group of high school students every week and he teaches a systematic theology and apologetics class (STAC) to a group of young teens and their dads.
Erick and his wife have three children and a black labrador, all of whom love to get out into God’s amazing creation, especially during summer camping trips.
