Chemical (or medication) abortion now comprises more than 50% of the abortions in the United States, and this percentage is expected to increase. When first approved two decades ago, chemical abortion had many restrictions to ensure safety to the woman, but these restrictions have gradually been removed. The pills can now be obtained online with little or no medical supervision. Proponents claim that at-home abortion is “safer than Tylenol.” Is chemical abortion really as safe as they say? What complications might we expect? What do the studies show us? In this episode Chris and Fuz discuss this important topic.
