To convince a skeptic that a Creator exists you need to make use of the right tools. In this case, your toolbox must consist of multiple approaches to establishing his existence.

How can we know the Bible is a revelation from God and that other holy books are not from him?

Among all the world’s religions, how do we know Christianity alone is true?

As I packed up my car in exodus of Oklahoma for the promised land of graduate studies in Pennsylvania, a dear Christian friend challenged me with the following words, “The years ahead, no doubt, will be filled with intense study and research, but as you pursue your PhD how much effort will you put into knowing God better and going deeper in your Christian faith?”

This year’s 30th anniversary celebration has caused us to look back at all God has accomplished through the various aspects of the ministry—from our books to our chapters to our courses and beyond. But 2016 itself has seen many milestones: Our second annual AMP Conference brought apologetics teaching to nearly 700 guests; many new articles, books, DVDs, and podcasts were released; and our scholars spoke around the world, bringing a message of hope to Turkey, Peru, and Australia, and across North America. None of this would have happened without the vitally important help of staff and volunteers. However, the greatest heroes of all have yet to be honored.

When I first arrived at RTB, we were selling products on VHS and cassette tapes. (That should tell you something about how long I’ve been here.) Our primary media exposure was at 4 AM on TBN and the occasional radio interview.

Have you ever noticed how strongly the Bible implies that everything God created serves his redemptive purpose and plan? My new book, Improbable Planet, makes a scientific case that all of creation—including countless details you may never have considered—has been exquisitely designed and shaped so that many billions of humans can be rescued from sin’s grip and enter an eternal, loving relationship with God.

Thanks for supporting another great gathering of The Lab! Students came from across the country July 14–16 to learn how to connect science with their Christian faith. As they processed the material, we could see many “lightbulb moments.” One student, Samantha, said that after years of having her faith questioned by agnostic classmates, The Lab helped reduce “the Goliath of naturalism” to an approachable concept. “I can’t describe the relief I have,” she said.

Shortly after running into the newfangled term “podcast” in the mid-2000s, RTB launched its first digital media offering, Science News Flash, on September 26, 2007. Concurrently, we also featured Straight Thinking and I Didn’t Know That! Together, the three podcasts enjoyed a seven-year run before they were replaced by the trio of Apologia podcasts in 2014.

How do you respond when someone challenges you on one of your strongly held beliefs? Not long ago I faced such a challenge when someone showed me a published paper indicating that the universe did not have a beginning.

Many skeptics ridicule the Bible’s claim—or what they think it claims—that Noah’s big boat housed a pair of every kind of land animal on the face of the earth. They laugh at the notion that one such craft could carry millions of animal species and that eight people could handle the care and feeding of every species from aardvark to zebra.

In 2003, as the RTB scholars were working to develop the testable creation model approach, longtime friend Dr. Jack Hayford invited them to teach a class at The King’s University. In an effort to share that engaging approach with future RTB apologists, we decided to record the lectures, thinking the fresh content could update the old Science and Evangelism course material. Little did we know those lectures would be the foundation of what eventually became Reasons Institute.

Perhaps one of the more amazing discoveries made in recent years has been the recovery of original soft tissue remnants within the fossilized remains of dinosaurs that lived nearly 80 million years ago. Paleontologists have unearthed multiple dinosaur specimens containing soft tissue parts.

“I just try not to think about it,” the student replied to my question about how she and other Christian students deal with the challenge of integrating faith with science. Her eyes dropped to the floor, her shoulders slumped in anxiety and defeat. Around me a few others nodded.

RTB chapters began forming very soon after the ministry launched in 1986, starting with the Denver chapter. Today, RTB’s global outreach includes 53 active chapters. In addition to impacting lives directly through local meetings and activities, our chapters have also been used by God to open some major ministry doors for RTB. One example comes from the National Conference on Christian Apologetics (NCCA) in Charlotte.

A common question I’m asked at speaking engagements is this: Can you identify the single most important evidence for the Christian faith? My consistent answer is the historical evidence for the bodily resurrection of Jesus. As Paul explains, “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins” (1 Corinthians 15:17). But, if Christ really did rise from the dead, then all who turn to Him will be made eternally alive and forever secure in their relationship with God.

I love Easter. It has nothing to do with hollow chocolate bunnies or egg hunts although I like both of these traditions. It has everything to do with the resurrection of Jesus. This realization came to me when I was 12 years old.
