Always Be Ready, Part Four
One reason for our choice of a name for this ministry is that it can, and often does, lead to questions and conversations. That’s what everyone connected with RTB comes to discover before long. Sometimes these conversations lead to faith-sharing opportunities with nonbelievers (or not-yet-believers), and sometimes they lead to spiritually significant interaction with fellow believers, as RTB shipping manager Greg Galvan experienced.
A Load of Encouragement – Greg Galvan
had just loaded my tub of clothes into the washer at the local Laundromat when I noticed an elderly gentleman standing nearby. I said hello and we started talking. As the conversation continued I asked him what he did for a living. He told me that he was a priest at an Episcopal church. In return, I told him that I worked at Reasons to Believe. He asked, “What kind of organization is that?”
So I was able to explain that we are a ministry devoted to showing people how science and the Bible go together. The gentleman looked me in the eye, pointed a finger at me, and said, “Yes! I’ve been trying to get the people in my church to understand that the two go together.” I then gave him our web address and explained that he could find plenty of information there that may be useful to him. He thanked me and then prayed with me before leaving. This conversation made my whole day.
