Is There a War between Science and Faith?
Question of the week: How would you respond to those who insist that there is a war between science and faith?
My answer: I would first explain how the two-books doctrine of God’s faithful and true revelation through the book of nature and the book of Scripture is a core tenet of Christianity. It appears in article 2 of the Belgic Confession. It is taught in Psalm 19:1–4 and Romans 1:18–20. Next, I would show how—with an Earth surface frame of reference (Genesis 1:2)—the chronology of the six creation days in Genesis 1 is a perfect fit with the established scientific record. Third, I would ask if there are any questions about other perceived conflicts between science and biblical faith, and then seek to resolve them. So far, I have written 23 books demonstrating that science is the ally, not the enemy, of the Bible and Christian faith. I hope to write several more.
