Scientific data verifies what the Author of the Bible knew millennia ago—marriage promotes prosperity. The first human relationship defined in the Bible is the permanent bond of a man and woman in marriage. An Ohio State University sociologist showed that this relationship leads to much greater financial gain than for people who divorce. The study revealed that while both single and married persons’ wealth increases over time, the wealth of divorced participants declined precipitously. Clearly the Christian faith is not about wealth accumulation, but this study affirms that in the financial arena, the biblical model of marriage is superior.
