The Bible, especially the Old Testament, is filled with prophecies about future events in human history. The best known of these prophecies are the ones concerning the first and second comings of the Messiah. Many want to know if there are any Bible prophecies relevant to the time we are living in now, especially in regard to Israel.
The passages that speak about the second rebirth of Israel as a nation present the strongest case for biblical prophecies being fulfilled during our time. Many Bible scholars believe that these prophecies apply to the Jewish nation established in 1948 in the land over which King David reigned three thousand years ago. Other Bible scholars believe that these passages do not literally apply to modern Israel, but rather are figurative references to the Christian church.
Below are all the Bible passages I am aware of that scholars cite in support of their application to the modern nation of Israel. When it comes to eschatology (end times considerations) I am a premillennialist. Thus I believe Scripture speaks of a future for the nation of Israel. I encourage readers to examine these texts in the context of modern Israel’s history and its potential future, and then draw their own conclusions.

When I was a teenager in the 1970s, songs by the Moody Blues were a staple on the playlists of most FM rock stations. This group helped pioneer the progressive and art rock genres in the 1960s. Truth be told, they don’t make my list of all-time favorite rock bands, but some of their single releases are among my favorite rock tunes. One of my favorite songs is “Question.” This track appeared on their 1970 album A Question of Balance. The song expresses the frustration that young people felt in the 1960s and 1970s about the conflict in Vietnam, asking profound and difficult questions, but never getting answers.

Many Christians affirm that God has given us two “books” in which he reveals himself the book of Scripture and the book of nature. The more we learn from the book of nature the more evidence we uncover for the trustworthiness and reliability of the book of Scripture. Two papers submitted to the Journal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics by an international team of 140 astronomers provide a recent example.1 Results from this considerable research effort deliver yet another confirmation of the biblically predicted big bang cosmic creation model.
When I was growing up, I came across a stack of comics at my grandma’s place and was immediately drawn to the cover artwork. One series, The Crusaders by Jack Chick of Chick Publications fame, was my initiation into apologetics.
