Creation Update listener Becky, a specialist in body mechanics, writes to
comment on the necessity of the patella (kneecap): "As a physical
therapist I can reassure everyone that the patella is a wonderful little
bone that aids greatly in our function. Although much like many parts of
our bodies we could live fine without a patella or either of them for that
matter, in reality it provides an excellent biomechanical advantage. Since
our legs are necessary to be able to produce great amounts of force it
allows a change in the line of pull of the quadriceps muscle providing the
ability to have greater torque production. Even with activities that
require less torque production the presence of a patella helps to allow
better effectiveness (energy conservation) of the quadriceps muscle."

Mark asks, As I understand it, Einstein invented the cosmological
constant as a "fudge factor" so his equations would not show an expanding
universe. When Hubble proved the expansion, Einstein discarded it--calling
this "the greatest blunder of his life." Now we have resurrected it--saying
it's fine-tuned to one part in 10 to the 120th to permit life. Is this the
same constant?
